Align or distribute layers in 2D space Use the Align panel to line up or evenly space selected layers. Doing so lets you, for example, apply an expression to a layer’s Y position while animating the X manually. Animating separated properties can give you more control and help you achieve certain effects more easily.

Then you can put the y animation on the y property with that expression and animate the x and z separately.
