High-pitched whistling sound from engine
WebJul 2, 2024 · The last few weeks I've had a high pitch whinning noise from the engine. Took it to repair shop (not a Volvo specialist) and was told it might be the power steering fluid needed changing. Had that repair done. Noise still exists and now when I get out of the car, there is a gas/oil smell. WebMay 27, 2024 · Once the engine is warmed up I get a somewhat high-pitched whine or whistle from the engine compartment. It almost sounds like an air leak in a hose or something. I notice it mostly at speeds above 30mph and it normally occurs at low power settings (low peddle pressure).
