WebThis treatment can reduce the number of platelets in your blood. Platelets are cells that help the blood to clot. If the number of platelets is low, you may bruise or bleed easily. You may have: nosebleeds bleeding gums heavy periods blood in your urine (pee) or stools (poo) tiny red or purple spots on the skin that may look like a rash.
